ArtistoftheWeek:Tash Parker5/27/10-6/2/10

I really like the songs this fresh new artist have made so far. They remind me of adventuring off alone. I found out about this artist when I was looking through some blogs on blogger and stumbled upon her site. The song that stands out to me is,
"Not Unprepared". I love the feeling of the song, it's very moving and builds up to a powerful finish. A great song from a new musician.
I don't know for sure what goes on in Australia but it seems like there's just this feeling of loneliness in almost every Australian artist's songs. Sarah Blasko, Lisa Mitchell, New Buffalo,(now Sally Seltmann), Brooke Fraser, Missy Higgins and now Tash Parker. I'm not complaining because I love the sounds they make, I just wonder why they're songs are filled with so much loneliness.

ArtistoftheWeek:B.Rieth5/19/10-5/26/10

"It's Pronounced B. Reith (Writhe)"
Usually, I don't like Christian Music, but I have to say I love the style of music B. Reith has. I stumbled upon this Artist on the Amazon Free Downloads page. I'm not much of a "YAY JESUS!," person, but I have to admit this artist is really talented. Singing and rapping his own songs. I really liked that, plus I always love "subtle religious themed songs" and he does that well. The album, Now Is Not Forever, is a great debut EP of B. Reith. His creativity along with some great lung capacity, equals a whole new game made by this great artist. Another Legend overlooked by the many releases of mainstream musicians and international pop artists. If it was the early 90's the christian hip-hop genre would be worshiping this guy.
Despite that downfall, he'll be put in my list of 21st Century Legends. Breaking the norm with his own style of music. I like when Artists do that. Makes them seem powerful to me.

ArtistoftheWeek:Ben Howard5/11/10-5/18/10

I love feeling in Ben Howard's music. It makes you feel laidback and relaxed. It's really nice. Perfect for the sea.
The song that really stuck out for me the most is, Cloud Nine. That song is, by far, his best song. It's so perfect, it's a song that can be used for the sea, the clouds and for love. The laidback feeling and the build-up at the end really perfect for contemplating and living.
"London", is a great song for love in the big city and "The Wolves",
is a great song that showcases Ben Howard's vocalizing skills.

ArtistoftheWeek:Allie Moss5/3/10-5/10/10

Allie Moss, best known as back up singer of Ingrid Michaelson, has made some head way into her creative musical mind recently. With her earlier songs, she had kind of the same feel and sound of Ingrid Michaelson but recently she's been going her own way.
I know that one of the most unique and catchy songs she's made is called "Corner" on the Passerby EP, her debut EP,that's so far my favorite song of her's.
She's been kept busy touring with Ingrid and making music of her own. Balancing her work with Ingrid and her work with her own music. I like that. You don't hear a lot of backup singers do that.

|Author's Note|
I'd say more but I need to cut down on how much I write, because I know that if I didn't want to read 20 paragraphs of how much a blogger likes an artist then why would I do that to people who read my blog?

ArtistoftheWeek:Janelle Monae4/25/10-5/2/10

I love Janelle Monae....Well, I really loved her style of music on the unreleased album, "The Audition". The first track called, "The Intro", I really liked, it was like I was hearing her thoughts going through her mind before an audition. Really cool! Then the real Opening Track, "Lettin' Go", really great to listen to when you're out on the town. After that track comes, "Party Girl", the sounds really take you back to the times of the Supremes really interesting.
After that song the rest kind of craft the cybergirl story. Like, Metropolis, Cindi, It's Not Fair, Time Will Reveal, The Chase etc...
Basically all the songs craft the story. The Audition is by far, my most favorite album of hers.

Next her hit to fame, Metropolis: The Chase Suite I EP. I liked the songs, Voilet Stars Happy Hunting!, Many Moons, Sincerely Jane,
& VSHH! (CyberHop Mix), the rest of the songs were explaining the story or were offset of the feeling of the EP to me.
I do love this EP because it showed people how talented Janelle Monae is. With her original style and the distinct vocals.
After the release of the EP, everybody(well, all the critics) talked about her and her amazing vocal arrangement, catchy melodies, old fashioned vocal harmony, and so many other great talents she showcased on her EP.

Her most recent release, The ArchAndroid: Suites II & III, has proved a lot of hidden talent from Monae. A lot of talent that she didn't really show in her previous releases.
My favorite song from the album is, "Tightrope", also I've heard a remix of Tightrope that featured Lupe Fiasco, and B.o.B. Gotta love Janelle Monae.

I have to say that Janelle Monae puts a smile on my face. She and many other African American artists are breaking the barrier of "Black Music". Exploring the genres and tapping into their own unique souls to make great original music for the world.
