ArtistoftheWeek:Hannah Georgas8/8/11-8/15/11

Hannah Georgas is a Canadian singer/songwriter with a constant drive for music. If it's either listening to all sorts of music to writing all kinds of music, this artist has a varied sense of musical love. (I think that Georgas might have a case of "Pop ears," loving any type of music as long as it has catchy hook/relatable lyrics). This musician is so cool and outgoing, especially in her music.
From her debut release, The Beat Stuff EP, there are songs that are personal and at times a little funny. The first song, "The Beat Stuff," is a way to express her reason of why she chose music to do and to become a music. The addiction and need for music in her life gave her to motivation to do it. Which is a really impressive step into her career. Another song called, "Mama's Boy", is a lyrically comedic song about her break up from a pathetic jerk.
Her debut album, This Is Good, starts off with a great song for the morning called, "Chit Chat". This song is perfect to listen to for going back to school. The end of summer is coming so have this song on to help to ease into the start of that droning year of school. Another song for those droning school days is, "Bang Bang You're Dead," this song is perfect for if someone is talking bad about you. It's all said in the lyrics, how it's done, the song makes you just want to laugh about it all.All in All, Hannah Georgas is a great musician to have for your music collection, especially if you love artists like, Alanis Morrissette, Jenny Owen Youngs Lelia Broussard, and any other female singer/songwriter out there.

ArtistoftheWeek:Emily Hearn11/23/10-11/30/10

Emily Hearn's music has really touched people's hearts with her songs. She released an EP in 2009 called, Paper Hearts. She started a project on Kickstarter, a way for her fans to fund her debut album that is expected to release sometime either in fall 2011 or Spring 2012.
I found out about Emily when I was exploring Kickstarter and saw all of the amazing artists on the website. When I found out about her when I clicked on her I watched the video and the song that played. I thought that she was pretty good so I looked her up saw her site which was pretty cool and listened to her EP.
If you liked Clara C, then you'll love Emily Hearn!

ArtistoftheWeek:Dumbfoundead8/17/10-8/24/10

I've been finding out about a lot of amazing artists recently, especially from the West Coast. I was happy to find out about this Rapper from youtube. I first heard of his song Clouds which I really liked. Personally his style of rapping to me is different than most rappers you hear nowadays. It's kind of hard to find true hip hop in music in 2010 but the internet helps (Ok no it doesn't).
My favorite songs from Dumbfoundead is Pushin' & Up In The Air.
His style is not so hard that it's scary like what some rappers do, but not so soft that it's "Hip Pop" it's just that kind of style in the middle that I like. I rarely see that in rappers. Ones that can do it, are really cool in my eyes.

ArtistoftheWeek:Jeevan Singh3/15/09-3/22/09

Jeevan Singh[pronounced: Heevan/Geevan Sing]
I know the last name is sing but the first is either pronouced geevan or heevan. I wish I knew!
Anyway...

"Imagine walking on snow at night in the quiet abandoned farmlands of upstate New York. Imagine a soft pillow to your ear."

Jeevan Singh is a Indie Folk/Pop Singer Songwriter. She was born in Manhattan and has been in Portland and is now living in Spain.
March 1983, New York, the snow fell softly. Her mother had studied classical Spanish guitar in the city, Puerto Rico, and later NYU. She wrote songs about liberty. Her mother sang to her first child in the womb.
March 1997, New York, she was gifted a round guitar, her first guitar, by her mother.
July 2002, Portland, newly relocated, she met a wonder of songwriters, artists, and activists.
Jeevan Singh grew up listening to Cat Stevens, old Bollywood soundtracks, and her mother’s songs on the guitar. She lived in Portland, Oregon and played with two bands there - Love Menu and Gatos - as well as solo.
August 2008, Portland, she released "Golden Lights EP" on House of Sound Records as a sort of goodbye to Portland.
September 2008, Spain, she packed her bags to test her luck on another continent. Now she's in the process of writing new songs.
